Juneau Public Libraries
The Juneau Public Libraries are the open door to exploration and lifelong learning, providing free access to shared resources and programs that entertain, enlighten and educate.
Our Libraries
The Juneau Public Libraries (JPL) are a department of the City and Borough of Juneau. The Juneau Public Libraries have three locations: the downtown Juneau Public Library (located atop the Marine Parking Garage on the waterfront), the Mendenhall Valley Public Library (located in Dimond Park) and the Douglas Public Library (located in the Douglas Community Building, a shared facility with Capital City Fire and Rescue). Library staff offices are located at the Downtown location. The UAS Egan Library and Alaska State Library are also in Juneau but are not operated by the City and Borough of Juneau.
Juneau Douglas City Museum
The Juneau-Douglas City Museum resides in the Veterans Memorial Building which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 7, 2006. Completed in 1951, the building was the first major community project initiated by Juneau residents and housed the Juneau Memorial Library until the mid 1980s when the library outgrew the space and the City Museum took up residence.
